These People Are Nuts: FL State Board Of Ed Sanctions 2 Districts For Violating DeSantis Mask Ban

In Florida, the State Board Of Education voted unanimously to sanction two school districts with mask mandates, violating Governor DeSantis's ban.

The board authorized the state education commissioner to take legal steps against Alachua and Broward counties--for requiring people in their school districts to wear masks.

The legal actions against the districts could include withholding funds, salaries, and removing officers. However, no penalty has been determined.

The Alachua County school board voted unanimously to extend its school mask mandate for another eight weeks and continue not allowing parental opt-out.

The Board will re-evaluate in two months.

Florida continues to struggle as the delta variant ravishes through the state.

Health officials report over three million cases and at least 41,000 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
