11:01Now PlayingThe Louisiana Supreme Court has appointed retired Opelousas City Court Judge Vanessa Harris as judge pro tempore of Lafayette City Court to replace suspended Judge Michelle Odinet.
With the new appointment, Judge Harris becomes the first black woman to fill the seat in Lafayette City Court. She will serve from December 17, 2021, through February 28, 2022.
Earlier this month, Odinet was suspended by the state's high court after she was caught on video saying the N-word to her family after a spoiled robbery.
On Tuesday, Roland Martin spoke with activist, Garry Chambers about the push to get Judge Odinet ousted off the bench.
