as posted by the channelOn Thursday night, a dramatic scene unfolded in a Chicago courtroom as Judge James Linn sentenced Smollett to roughly five months in jail, felony probation, restitution, and fines.
The "empire" actor yelled "I am not suicidal, and I am innocent," while giving his respects to the judge as he was taken into custody
Before that... The judge berated him, saying "you are a charlatan pretending to be the victim of a hate crime. And that is shameful."
Smollett was convicted in December on five counts of felony disorderly conduct and making false reports to police.
He told police two men attacked him in 20-19 and put a noose around his neck while shouting racial and homophobic slurs.
His defense team asked for leniency in court Thursday, citing Smollett's lack of a criminal record.
The judge sided with prosecutors -- who said the actor lied on the stand during his trial... And never apologized for his actions.
Smollett was also ordered to pay the city of Chicago 120-thousand dollars in restitution... And a $25,000 dollar fine.
