WTH?!? A North Carolina City Hired A Black Woman Town Manager And Then Its Entire Police Force Quit.

A North Carolina town will soon be without full-time police officers after the entire department resigns.

The resignations of Kenly's police chief and four officers come shortly after the announcement of the town's new town manager, Justine Jones, a Black woman.

In a letter to Jones, Gibson talked about the department's growth in his 21 years and how he hoped the progress would continue. He also said he did not see making more progress as long as Jones is the town's manager. Gibson claims that since Jones took over, the "environment" changed.

In addition to the four other officers, the assistant town manager and a key clerk also resigned in protest of Jones' hiring. Jones has been on the job for about a month.

The Johnston County Sheriff's Office promises to pick up the slack in response to their resignations. The state highway patrol in Johnston county will assist as well.

The town is left with three part-time officers to run the department. Jones is not commenting on the situation.
