10:29Now PlayingWhite fear is showing after a White conservative Taxpayer association filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against Biden and the U.S. Education Department.
The Brown County Taxpayers Association claims Biden implemented a federal program with an improper racial motive.
Rick Esenberg, President and General Counsel of the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, who filed the lawsuit on the organization's behalf, said:
"The President has no authority to order wholesale forgiveness of student loans, costing taxpayers over a trillion dollars. Whether this plan is good for America is for Congress to decide. We understand the procedural challenges, but we cannot stand idly by while the President shreds our separation of powers. This can't become the new normal for Democrats or Republicans. We will fight for the rule of law and take this issue to the United States Supreme Court if necessary."
The president of the Brown County Taxpayer Association, Richard Heidel, said:
"Student Loan Debt Relief takes from one group of people and arbitrarily distributes the spoils to another group. The plan amounts to nothing more than a modern-day version of King George III's Stamp Act where there was massive taxing and spending without the participation of the People's representatives."
The group argues the plan violates the 14th Amendment's equal protection clause because it uses federal dollars to advance racial equity even though the average white high school dropout earns more wealth than the average Black college graduate, according to the Duke Center for Social Equality.
We contacted the Brown County Taxpayers Association to see if someone from their organization would appear on the show. We haven't heard back from them.
