John D. Johnson, a research fellow at the Marquette Law School Lubar Center, reported that one of Wisconsin's most prominent Democratic strongholds' turnout numbers fell below 2018. However, in the predominantly white western Wisconsin, voting numbers were up.
Despite political ad spending reaching $144 million for advertising in Wisconsin's US Senate general election, voters, especially democrats, were not enthused to vote.
Republican Incumbent Ron Johnson defeated US Senate candidate Mandela Barnes by just over 27,000 votes.
2022 election, voter turnout was recorded at 68 percent compared to 2018, when voter turnout was at 79 percent, which was about 46,000 fewer votes.
