2:27Now PlayingA Black Wall Street Journal reporter was detained outside an Arizona Chase Bank while conducting interviews.
Dion Rabouin, a finance reporter, was working on a story in November when bank employees called the police on him. When Police Officer Caleb Zimmerman arrived on the scene, he told Rabouin to leave but decided to detain him for trespassing.
Rabouin did file a complaint, but the police department said that policies were now broken.
A probe was opened following a complaint from Wall Street Journal Editor-in-Chief Matt Murray expressing concerns about the incident.
The Wall Street Journal made this statement:
"We're deeply concerned that Wall Street Journal reporter Dion Rabouin was detained, handcuffed, and placed in the back of a police vehicle while reporting. No journalist should ever be detained simply for exercising their First Amendment rights."
