Walters made these comments after requesting an accounting of all money spent by Oklahoma colleges on diversity initiatives.
Oklahoma's Regents for Higher Education found the state's colleges had $10.2 million budgeted for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion activities in the current fiscal year. The state contributed $3.7 million to those efforts.
Oklahoma lawmakers will address at least five bills this legislative session to limit diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in education. The measures aim to limit political testing, amend parental rights and report spending in higher education programs.
Oklahoma State Representative Monroe Nichols spoke with Roland Martin about the attack on diversity, equity and inclusion in Oklahoma colleges.
