For the first time in almost 50 years, women have fewer reproductive rights than the women before them.
In 1973, the Court determined Roe v. Wade that the U.S. Constitution protects a woman's decision to terminate her pregnancy. In 2022, the conservative majority Supreme Court of the United States overruled Roe and a 1992 abortion decision, Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey which upheld federal abortion restrictions.
Since the decision GOP led states have been fighting to strip reproductive rights from women by banning access in cases of rape and incest, closing clinics, jailing doctors who perform procedures, and even proposing legislation to enforce murder charges and even the death penalty if a woman gets an abortion.
Alexis McGill Johnson, the President & CEO of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund & Planned Parenthood Federation of America spoke with Roland Martin about the conservative assault on reproductive rights.
