Newly released unsealed documents from 2020 show Perry, convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, discussing intentions of harming Protesters, commenting on social media about killing protesters and Muslims, and expressing white supremacist views.
In reaction to the documents' release, Perry's legal team filed a motion Tuesday seeking a new trial. Abbot has urged the Texas Parole Board to consider his request to pardon Perry because of Texas Stand Your Ground Laws.
