8:31Now PlayingTexas' CROWN Act became law on September 1, but some say there are some loopholes.
One family says the CROWN Act is not protecting their son, who has been suspended because of his hair.
Darryl George, a Barbers Hill High School junior in Mont Belvieu, has been suspended for more than a week because his loc hairstyle violated the district's dress code.
The school district handbook forbids male students from having hair that extends below the eyebrows or earlobes or worn in a style where hair extends below the top of a T-shirt collar.
Joining me now are Darryl George's mother, Darresha George, attorney Allie Booker, Ron Reynolds, Texas Legislative Black Caucus Chari, and Dr. Candice Matthews, Statewide Vice Chair of Texas Coalition of Black Democrats.
