The Missouri Court of Appeals for the Western District upheld Eric DeValkenaere's second-degree involuntary manslaughter conviction for killing Cameron Lamb. The 3-judge panel found sufficient evidence that DeValkenaere killed Lamb, that he acted with criminal negligence, that he was not justified to use deadly force, and that he illegally entered Lamb's backyard on December 3, 2019.
DeValkenaere was sentenced to six years in prison, three for the manslaughter charge and six years for armed criminal action, to be served concurrently.
He had been free pending his appeal.
DeValkenaere's lawyer asked appeals court judges to reinstate his bond so he can remain free pending requests for a rehearing or an appeal to the Missouri Supreme Court.
