Ever since the first Africans arrived in Virginia in 1619, our contributions to the growth, establishment, and prominence of America have been systematically blotted out.
From the contributions of enslaved Africans to the underrepresentation of Black Americans in academic settings and corporate America, and all the way to the latest attacks on Affirmative Action and diversity, equity, and inclusion, the journey to preserve and honor Black history is fraught with obstacles.
As we navigate the complexities of Black history, it is crucial to amplify marginalized voices, challenge historical inaccuracies, and support initiatives that promote inclusivity and diversity. By acknowledging the erasure of Black history and actively working towards its preservation, we honor the resilience and contributions of Black communities throughout history.
