February's report is out, and it's got some twists that hit close to home for our community.

From overall unemployment to the specific stats for Black men and women, we're unpacking what these numbers really mean for us. So, let's cut through the noise and get to the heart of what's happening in our job market.

In February, the U.S. economy added 151,000 jobs in February 2025 a continued trend of growth.

The overall unemployment rate edged down to 4%. However, when we look at the numbers within our community, the story is more complex.​

Black unemployment saw a small increase in January before decreasing in February.

Black men experienced a significant spike in unemployment in January, rising from 5.6% to 6.9%, before dropping sharply to 5.5% in February.

Black women's unemployment rate remained stable at 5.4% throughout the three-month period

While the overall unemployment rate has seen a steady decline, our community's unemployment rates have experienced fluctuations. Notably, the increase in unemployment among Black men from December to January is a cause for concern.​
