8:02Now PlayingBilly Long, former GOP congressman and President Donald Trump’s nominee for IRS commissioner, disclosed in new federal filings Tuesday that he reimbursed himself $130,000 from campaign donations—repaying a loan he made to his failed 2022 Senate campaign.
As first reported by The Lever, Long’s campaign raised less than $36,000 in the two years following his Senate loss. But after Trump announced him as his pick for IRS commissioner in January, the committee suddenly hauled in nearly $137,000—enough to cover the repayment.
