Kartrez Rush and Jasmine Scott were traveling with their children when a South Carolina state trooper stopped them after a false 911 call alleged stolen vehicles. Without verifying the claim, officers escalated immediately, drawing weapons and handcuffing the parents while their children remained in the truck. Their daughter, Kaitlyn Rush, recorded part of the encounter as it unfolded. Represented by attorney Tyler Bailey, the family has filed a federal lawsuit accusing Trooper Kyle J. Lyman and the South Carolina Department of Public Safety of excessive force, false imprisonment, and violations of due process.
