Attorney Terrance Kinnard joins Roland Martin to discuss the case of 18-year-old Dailen Brewer, who is suing the city of Indianapolis and Sgt. Robyn Frazier after she alleged Brewer pointed a gun at her and helped trigger attempted murder and other felony charges. Kinnard says Sgt. Frazier’s own body camera footage contradicted that account, and prosecutors later dismissed every charge after Brewer spent four days in jail.
A false police narrative cost Dailen Brewer four days of freedom, nearly cost him his job, and could have sent him to prison for decades. Kinnard said, “If that body cam doesn’t exist, Dailen Brewer goes to prison for nearly 50 years.” The case leaves an even bigger question hanging over the justice system: how many police lies survive when there is no video to prove otherwise?
