Donald Trump toured General Motors in Milford, Michigan and claimed his tariffs have been a major success for the company. Roland Martin and the panel say the claim was outrageous, especially given the damage tariffs have done to Michigan, the auto industry and the larger economy.

The panel points to the receipts. General Motors has reportedly lost more than $3 billion due to tariffs. The auto industry has lost 20,000 jobs over the last two years. Dr. Mustafa Santiago Ali says the tariffs have not been helpful to the country and have hurt workers, families and communities that depend on the auto sector. He also connects the damage to broader health and economic consequences, including deeper hardship for everyday Americans already struggling with rising costs and shrinking access to care.

Randi Bryant blasts the fragility of so-called leaders who keep allowing Trump to show up at their businesses and make false claims without pushback. Roland is even more direct, saying every GM executive standing there knew Trump was lying. The panel argues that this was not just about one speech. It was also about the people around Trump who continue to smile, stay silent and help legitimize policies they know are hurting workers and the economy.
