Roland Martin Calls Out SNAP Cuts While Billions Go To Sports Stadiums

Roland Martin called out politicians pushing cuts to SNAP benefits while governments continue spending billions of taxpayer dollars on sports stadiums.

Martin said food insecurity has direct consequences for children and classrooms. He said some students may attend school after eating only one meal and may be labeled disruptive without teachers or administrators recognizing that hunger could be affecting their behavior.

Martin also cited governors turning down federal money and reports that summer meal programs are facing increased demand while federal cuts make it harder to fight child hunger.

He rejected claims that SNAP cuts are about eliminating “waste, fraud and abuse,” arguing that reducing food assistance means denying food to people who rely on the program.

“When you have these politicians stand up and talk about, ‘We’re gonna cut SNAP benefits,’ they are literally saying, ‘We’re gonna not provide food to people.’”
