A white OnlyFans model accepted a plea deal on a lesser charge of manslaughter after fatally stabbing her Black boyfriend. The sentence is six years, with about four years already served. Prosecutors say she accepted full responsibility for his death, and the family approved the plea in order to secure an admission of guilt and some measure of closure.
Roland Martin and the panel do not see six years as justice. They say the outrage is not about distractions or side arguments. The outrage is that a Black man lost his life and the punishment still feels painfully light. One panelist says this case shows how the justice system keeps giving permission to take Black life without appropriate consequences.
Black people have received harsher sentences for far less harm. Roland and the panel say that disparity is exactly why six years for taking a Black man's life does not feel like justice. The family may have gotten an admission of guilt and some closure, but the punishment still reflects the unequal consequences they say Black victims and Black families face in the justice system.
