Most of the world thinks that Judaism is just a religion. A religion that may have originated in the land of Israel, but that has since spread all across the globe.
Unfortunately, this couldn't be farther from the truth. Judaism is not a religion that spread across borders and across peoples, it is a preservation tool that a specific people created in order to safeguard their identity as they were being torn apart from their native lands. A preservation tool that always sought to one day reunite the Jews with their homeland to restore their civilization. Jews, Hebrews, Israelites, are all synonyms for one people that were forced to cross many borders, and not a belief system that spread onto other nations.
As long as Jews continue to define their culture and identity by western terms designated to describe actual religions, the misunderstanding of who the Jewish People really are will only continue.
Jews must narrate their own story.
