Russell Brand sits down with theologian Dr Jeremiah Johnston to unpack one of the most powerful and overlooked moments in the entire story of Jesus — his appearance to his own brother James. Johnston points out that Jesus' brothers did not believe in him during his ministry, his family thought he had lost his mind and even tried to stage an intervention. James was humiliated by the crucifixion and simply trying to keep the family business going when the risen Jesus appeared to him directly. That single encounter transformed James into one of the pillars of the early church and he ultimately died in 62 AD stoned to death still believing his brother was the resurrected Messiah. A deeply moving and historically grounded conversation about what it actually means that Jesus rose from the dead.
