On July 17th, 2022, a SU-34M bomber was shot down over the Alchevsk region of Luhansk, Occupied Ukraine. It was speculated that this was a Friendly Fire incident from a Russian S-400 anti-aircraft system.

Some people have theorized that this was due to Russia's desperation to shoot down HIMARS rockets. However, HIMARS rockets and SU-34 aircraft have two different kinds of flight profiles.

I believe that that the plane was shot down due to a bad IFF transponder and has noting to do with HIMARS.
