The MACS stands for Modular Artillery Charge System.

This system actually reduces waste by allowing the warfighter to "build a charge" out of modular components whereas the old system used pre-packaged bags that became dunnage and had to be burned for disposal if unused.

The system is designed to be highly transportable on pallets and stackable. When it gets the the warfighter there are multiple handholds which can aid in moving the charges manually.
