as posted by the channelIn May 26thm 2023, a PLAAF (People's Liberation Army Air Force) J-16 conducted an unsafe intercept of a a US Air Force RC-135 over international Waters in the South China Sea.
This is not the first time that the PLAAF has performed unsafe intercepts. In April of 2001, a US Navy EP-3 collided with a PLAAF J-8 causing the death of the PLAAF pilot and forcing the EP-3 to land on a nearby PLA controlled island.
It is likely that the poor airmanship displayed is due to one of two reasons:
#1. The PLAAF pilot was poorly trained.
#2. The pilot is under orders to be reckless in an attempt to intimidate or cause an international incident.
