DoD Directive 5240.01 is a policy directive that replaces a policy from 2007. This policy directs the federal, active-duty military on the limitations of assistance that it can provide during DSCA or Defense Support to Civil Authorities.
The document does not mean that America will enter a period of martial law, nor does it "newly allow" the use of lethal force against Americans. These accusations have been manufactured by disinformation agents to stoke political division.
