Did Michigan really just propose a bill that could ban VPNs? They are trying to, and they did it with a straight face.
Today we’re breaking down Michigan House Bill 4938 — a “protect the children” bill that quietly sneaks in language requiring ISPs to spy on your traffic, block VPNs, block encrypted tunnels, and basically break remote work, telehealth, corporate networks, journalism, and basic cybersecurity.
This isn’t just a bad bill.
It’s technically impossible, legally questionable, and a blueprint for state-level surveillance that looks way too much like the censorship systems we criticize in Russia, China, and Iran.
📌 In this video:
* What a VPN actually does (it’s not just for anime with too many tentacles)
* Why this bill would destroy remote work
* How it forces ISPs to violate the Fourth Amendment by proxy
* Why corporate VPNs, hospital networks, and industrial systems would break
* How deep-packet inspection turns ISPs into mass-surveillance nodes
* Why banning VPNs makes hackers and foreign intel services very happy
* And what Michigan voters can do before this bad idea becomes law

(But after reading HB 4938, Michigan might need one.)
