An American AH-64 Apache goes down near the Strait of Hormuz. Two soldiers are stranded in the water. The United States launches retaliatory strikes against Iran.

For the first time, a U.S. military personnel recovery mission appears to have used an unmanned surface vessel to help rescue downed aircrew. Instead of sending another crew directly into danger, the Navy sent a drone boat.
