Are laser weapons actually useful against drones, or are they just expensive sci-fi toys?
In this video, we look at what lasers can really do against drones, where they fall apart, and why the answer is more complicated than “lasers are the future” or “lasers are useless.”
We’ll talk about reported combat use by Israel, South Korea’s counter-drone laser program, the Saudi experience with Chinese laser systems in desert conditions, and why dust, fog, rain, smoke, heat, cooling, line of sight, and drone swarms all matter.
The bottom line: lasers are not Star Wars, but they are not worthless either. They are one layer in a real air defense system, alongside radar, jamming, guns, interceptor drones, missiles, decoys, and camouflage.
