In many cultures, life is believed to truly begin when you have children. In others, especially in Western society, the message is often do what makes you happy. But what if the real answer lies somewhere in between?

In this video, we explore the difference between happiness and purpose, and how cultural values shape the way we view fulfillment. Happiness is often temporary and self-focused, while purpose creates long-term meaning and responsibility beyond ourselves.

One of the strongest arguments for purpose comes through parenthood. When you have children, their emotional, psychological, and physical well-being depends on you. That level of responsibility creates structure, meaning, and a deeper reason to grow as a person. Parenting forces maturity, sacrifice, and long-term thinking in ways nothing else quite does.

This conversation isn’t about saying everyone must have children. It’s about understanding why so many cultures place such importance on family and legacy, and why purpose—not pleasure—is often what sustains people through life’s hardest moments.

If you’ve ever questioned what truly gives life meaning, or felt caught between cultural expectations and personal freedom, this discussion will resonate deeply.
