The appellate jurisdiction of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) is one step closer to becoming Saint Lucia's final appeals court. As Saint Lucia's final appeals court the CCJ will eliminate the cost prohibitive fees associated with the Privy Council and make justice more accessible and more affordable for Saint Lucian citizens. On February 28, 2023 the Lower House, anchored by Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre, passed the historic Bill to amend the Constitution of Saint Lucia to allow the parting of ways with the Privy Council and paved the way for accession the appellate jurisdiction of the Caribbean Court of Justice [CCJ].
