as posted by the channelOn October 14, 2024, the Ministry of Equity, Social Justice and Empowerment placed the spotlight on the Social Protection System in Saint Lucia. Social Protection is an umbrella term that speaks to all the efforts of the Ministry of Equity, Social Sector Ministries, and other stakeholders who deliver services in kind or cash to persons to alleviate hardships (indigence, poverty, vulnerability, etc.) and or buffer shocks (whether environmental or socio-economics).
The launched showcased the Social Protection System Reform, which has been ongoing since 2012. Under the Joint UN SDG Programme, the Government of Saint Lucia received funding from the World Bank to undertake a series of activities to strengthen the social protection system. These were implemented under the Human Capital Resilience Project in 2021.
