3:43Now PlayingThe Government of Saint Lucia has made major progress in settling its longstanding debt to the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Martinique (CHUM). Over EC$3 million has been paid toward arrears dating back more than 20 years.
The announcement followed a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre and the Director of CHUM in Fort-de-France during the Prime Minister’s official one-day mission to Martinique.
The arrears covered the cost of specialist care for Saint Lucian patients referred to CHUM. This payment helps safeguard access to life-saving treatment for Saint Lucians, especially in emergencies or where local services fall short.
Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre’s official one-day mission to Martinique also focused on citizen security, border protection, trade, and regional cooperation.
