The smear campaign was started by Mike Cernovich, a right-wing conspracy theorist who is best known for promulgating the "Pizzagate" conspiracy theory—a completely unsubstantiated set of claims. Sam Seder and the Majority Report stand to lose advertisers if the social media efforts of these people are successful, and he asks his audience to look at what was actually said in his initial tweet in order to make their own assessment of the situation and offer their support to Sam and the show.
