Sackler died in July at the age of 97. His brother Mortimer died in 2010. The oldest Sackler brother, Arthur, died in 1987. Raymond avoided publicity more than his brothers. By the end of his life, he was a billionaire and a noted philanthropist, funding biomedical research, including work on the human genome and the biological roots of psychiatric illness."*
