9:00Now PlayingSam Seder and Emma Vigeland watch Joe Biden’s speech regarding the Israel-Palestinian ceasefire. Biden announced on Wednesday that he had given Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu until the end of the day to de-escalate hostilities. That was apparently all it took, because a ceasefire agreement was reached.
Biden promised to support Palestinian reconstruction efforts through humanitarian aid given to the Palestinian Authority. Then he said he prayed that this continued.
Israel doesn’t seem to be holding up their end of the bargain, however, as video shows ground forces treating Palestinian civilians like rioters as they walk around in broad daylight in East Jerusalem. Sam and Emma discuss how typical this is of Israeli leadership: provocation to the point where retaliation seems like the only option, right now retaliation comes from Hamas, and following retaliation, Israel is free to follow up with a vastly disproportionate attack or series of attacks.
