Bush and Barack Obama’s Secretary of Defense, talking to John Dickerson on “Face the Nation” about how hard Israeli prime ministers have tried to help the Palestinians and how the Palestinians simply haven’t accepted their generosity. Gates says that it is a very good and nice thing that Joe Biden didn’t put the U.S. “front and center” during this conflict. He advocates for a behind-the-scenes role for the U.S. Well this is not convenient for the public, as the United States has not been an “honest broker” as Sam Seder puts it, and that is true when they’re doing things in public, so we don’t need to advocate for MORE secrecy, thank you very much Mr. Robert Gates. We have plenty of that already.
