10:00Now PlayingIn this Majority Report clip, we watch a state trooper use a tactical maneuver that is meant to end high-speed chases on a car that he has been attempting to pull over for about two minutes. The car has slowed down, put its emergency blinkers on, and as any rational person could deduce, is waiting for a safe place to pull over, because they’re on the highway and there’s no shoulder. (This is what you’re supposed to do. You’re not supposed to pull over in high-speed traffic and block a lane.)
State Trooper Rodney Dunn decides to use a PIT maneuver, which predictably causes her car to spin out, hit the median, and flip over.
Luckily, the driver of the SUV that flipped, Janice Harper, survived. She’s suing, and thus far the statements from the department have been in full support of the actions of the trooper, of course, despite the fact that he not only endangered her life, the life of her child but also the lives of all of the other drivers behind them.
