Sam Seder: Here is uh AOC and Cori Bush... an estimated 7 million Americans that are currently at risk for eviction and congress decided to leave town for not just for the weekend but for seven weeks seven weeks through august um while while the federal eviction moratorium is gonna leave tomorrow they didn't even try.

Emma Vigeland: When Cory bush got elected we talked about how her experience when she was you know houseless is going to be so important to having congress that kind of voice is going to be incalculably important and we're seeing it this week um and of course you know i know we're going to talk to today and David Dayen in a bit about who who's to blame here but honestly the fact that if they wanted to do this through the courts they didn't have a plan b a separate track at the ready well congress says it says a little bit about how committed the Biden Administration was to actually making this happen

SS: I mean there's significant lobbying from the national association of realtors and groups like that that are you know they may want to appear like they want to get this done but i i'm not sure how sincere that is uh that's the point i think and and dane will fill us in but certainly the they had at least 30 days to know that the supreme court had that disposition right and you know on day 30 out from the end of the moratorium is when you have that conversation about hey should we just try and buy more time on the 31st day as opposed to talking about that um you know two days before the moratorium runs out uh aoc was on jake tappers and look just to build on your point

EV: Without an AOC or a Cori Bush in this uh in this house..

SS: ..They would have left town there would have been marginal talk about it and that's it i mean this is the value of them using things like social media and a megaphone to the extent now it may end up doing nothing but it's certainly putting more attention on it and putting it in play uh than we would normally see absolutely.
