Caller: I'm glad that I got in today. This is my first time calling since a few weeks ago. you had someone call about the HPV vaccine I don't know if you remember that.

Sam: I don't remember it necessarily. But go ahead betty.

Caller: yeah I just wanted to hear all y'all's like just free-flowing ideas and thoughts about this. I'm kind of sick and exhausted from debating the moral public health and safety values of vaccines right now. I feel like it's just an exhausting conversation about the debate around it. I'm pro-vaccination and whatnot. but I grew up in southern California in a very conservative town. I remember when prop 8 was happening there was just every single day every all hours of the day there were protests on every corner about you know no or yes on prop 8 or whatever the against gay marriage was. just constant protest about that. I grew up in a pretty progressive family as far as boomers go. My dad's a public defender. We had Obama 08 signs all over our house in Hebrew because we were like one of the only Jewish families in this town. and we had swastikas drawn on our house like it was just a very ugly conservative town. yeah. so when I was in middle school is when the HPV vaccine got rolled out. and my mom at the time was you know kind of like the covid vaccine where it's like oh it's so experimental I don't want you to get it all this stuff. and was kind of just going with the flow of the kind of town we were living in even though we were a progressive family. and so now a few months ago last year I found out that I have two severe strains of HPV. and yeah so and it's just like I said my family is very progressive and now my mom is boosted and everything and so is my dad. but it's just so interesting how the culture and community you live in can kind of do that to you.
