The MR crew take a look at mainstream media reporting of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and talk about how different it is to coverage of other international crisis such as those in Yemen and Syria. The Majority Report crew discuss how Ukrainians are described as civilized to prosperous middle-class people which allows for high levels of empathy in Western foreign correspondence media. The MR crew also talks about how there seem to be gaps in empathy when it comes to certain people and how it is instructive.

Sam Seder: There's a lot of reasons one could point to as to why what's happening with Russia's invasion of Ukraine could resonate with people in Europe and across the world in a different way than in other conflicts because Europe was the site of the last two world wars the only two world wars that we've had. Russia, a former superpower arguably you know at least militarily still one of the superpowers, I guess, and there's a lot of you know sort of and nuclear weapons. I mean and so there's a lot of reason why this conflict would get more attention than say the Saudis and our involvement in that assault on Yemen.
