I don't think people fully grasp how we look in other countries. Particularly with what we know, I think in many respects politically attuned people have been paying more attention to what's been going on with the January 6 commission hearings than a lot of people in this country. and when they look at that and then they look at the rollback of an individual right that has been an individual right in this country for 50 years 20 percent of our history. and they just think that like holy cow man this country is off the rails. And there is still an institutional memory of like, if you could get Donald Trump after Barack Obama, this is a country that is unstable and they're starting to see which way it's breaking. Here is an Irish member of the European Parliament Mick Wallace. who someone a bunker inspector wrote in to say that maybe he's you know he's not left-wing. and he has some issues in Ireland. I don't know enough about his politics. but his commentary here is on point. It gives him an opportunity. yeah. and really it's making the point of just like this is how outsiders view the country. regardless of who the political leanings are domestic. A woman's right to choose is a human right. Why are we so quiet about challenging ourselves when they threaten human rights? some people have said here oh we can't be why how dare we talk about us. but we talk about everybody else. Is the US a functioning democracy? Well, let's have a look at it. it costs 2 billion to become president. that 25 of the total prisoners in the world. they spend over 800 billion a year on arms. which is more than most of the world put together. They've been at war for 250 years since their state was formed 275 years ago. but they can't afford universal health care. they can't afford a 1.7 trillion debt forgiveness for students. they can't afford to forward a program for the one pint for the 17 million children that go to bed hungry. Is this a functioning democracy? What's your idea of a democracy? Bernie Sanders wasn't even allowed to win the nomination for the democrats. The Americans couldn't spell democracy.
