The Democrats are largely silent on speaking in favor of trans rights. Republicans are passing anti-LGBTQ+ laws all across the country, yet the Dems appear flat-footed. Even the normal performative solutions aren't even attempted. Why is that?

Oh hi! hey hey, Emma. Thanks for taking my call. big fan of the show guys. Listen, I just wanted to call and bring up something that's been on my mind and I think a lot of callers have brought this up over the last while. and it just has to do with the whole LGBT kind of attack that seems to be going on right now from the right. and I think something that really bugs me about the less response to this in general. not your show. I mean your show is fantastic. you guys really shine a light on these issues and kind of tell it like it is. but I think what really bugs me about the king of the Democratic establishment is the one thing you could count on them on a lot of issues is being performative right? like they're going to be willing to say that that you know like with the whole George Floyd thing when they were putting on like African Garb and kneeling right. being performative is the one thing we can count on them for. and for this one issue when we have like they don't say gay bills and this attack on trans rights and stuff like this. The one time we're being performative would actually do some good, they're just completely silent on it. like when I hear these comments about you know right Wingers saying that you're indoctrinating our kids in schools and you're indoctrinating them. and the answer is no we're not groomers. and they're just so tepid and they're response. and it's like I just don't understand why you can't come out and say yeah we're trying to indoctrinate you to realize that if your kid is gay if your kid is trans that's okay. like that's a normal thing. and there's nothing bad with it. and it is just this tepid response that we get from the mainstream media and from everyone else that is just pushing this issue back way worse than it is and giving the right way too much traction. well, it's literal that was just something that's been on my mind. yeah, I think your point is really well taken. they're leaving a vacuum for the right to engage in this kind of bigotry. and it's been reported that Democratic Consultants don't see running on this as a winning issue for them. and so frankly from the top down except for some Progressive lawmakers there really has not been much said. Nor have I thought Biden mobilized Merrick Garland to look into these issues of denial of health care towards trans people. where I feel like there needs to be a more robust Federal response to the kind of discrimination that we're seeing. like the way that Texas is harassing parents who provide gender-affirming care for their kids. I don't understand why there's been. I mean I do understand because they're scared as hell but why hasn't there been a better national response on that front.
