Pod Save America host Jon Lovett called for California Sen. Dianne Feinstein to resign on Wednesday, saying that her health is preventing her from effectively serving in the Senate.
Feinstein, 88, has missed a number of votes in recent months due to health issues. She was hospitalized in January for an infection and has also been diagnosed with cataracts.
Lovett said that Feinstein's health is a "real problem" and that she is "not able to do her job." He also said that Feinstein's absence is hurting Democrats' ability to confirm judges.
"As sad as it is to see someone who has had an incredibly storied and important career," Lovett said, "Dianne Feinstein should no longer be in the Senate. She should resign."
Lovett's call for Feinstein's resignation is the latest sign of growing frustration among Democrats with the senator's health. In February, a group of California Democrats called on Feinstein to step down, saying that she is "no longer mentally or physically capable of serving."
