Eric Adams hosted a community conversation at a Washington Heights high school, and was confronted by a woman upset with how he handled the city's new rules for rent increases.

Adams says to the woman: "...don't be disrespectful to me. i'm the mayor of this city and treat me with the respect that would, that i deserve to be treated. i'm speaking to you as an adult. Don't stand in front like you treated someone that's on the plantation that you own."

That woman was identified at Jeanie Dubnau, an assistant professor of biology at Rutgers University who has lived in the city for over 50 years and a longtime public housing advocate.
