YouTube Description
as posted by the channelBarboncino, a pizzeria in Brooklyn's Crown Heights neighborhood, became the first unionized pizza restaurant in New York City. The union, called Barboncino Workers United, was formed by 26 workers who unanimously voted in favor of it and will represent around 40 non-managerial employees, including line cooks, bartenders, bussers, and servers. The decision to unionize came after workers faced various issues, and they sought a better way to advocate for their rights and contributions to the workplace. The workers affiliated their union with Workers United, inspired by labor movements like Starbucks Workers United, demanding higher wages, better work schedules, clear disciplinary procedures, and a "no tolerance" sexual harassment policy. The workers achieved a unanimous win in the official vote count, expressing relief and pride in their efforts. The co-owners of Barboncino are reviewing the next steps of the process in response to the unionization.
