YouTube Description
as posted by the channelAuthor Jacob Silverman joins Emma to talk about what the heck is going on at OpenAI.
In anticipation of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's temporary departure, a letter was reportedly sent by several staff researchers to the board of directors, warning about a potent artificial intelligence discovery that could pose risks to humanity, according to two sources familiar with the matter. This previously undisclosed letter and the related AI algorithm were significant factors leading to Altman's removal, with over 700 employees threatening to resign in support of their ousted leader. The sources indicate that the letter was among various concerns raised by the board, including worries about commercializing technological advancements without fully grasping the potential consequences. The letter, whose contents were not reviewed by Reuters, reportedly discussed a project called Q*, seen by some at OpenAI as a potential breakthrough in the quest for artificial general intelligence (AGI). While Q* has demonstrated proficiency in solving certain mathematical problems at the level of grade-school students, its capabilities have sparked optimism among researchers about its future success.
