Rebekah Van Dyke and Christie Sowards then join as they walk Sam through the expansive network of nurses, doctors, and clinicians striking under the Oregon Nurses Association in the face of Providence Health & Services’ failure to manage a life-saving workforce, providing low wages and minimal benefits to a short-staffed workforce with the massive impact passed onto patients. After expanding on Providence’s role in fanning this flame by refusing to bargain, Van Dyke and Sowards unpack the unfortunate necessity of striking in the face of unfair labor practices, and what to look for as this action continues.
