"Good afternoon labor, Teamsters. I'm here to reaffirm my position in supporting the horse carriage industry in New York City. They've provided a vital service for our tourism industry, provided millions of dollars enabling this cities economy to be kept going.

The horses have been treated fairly, I visited the stables last week, and I'm very impressed by the work they have going on there is no reason we should be legislating to remove 300 jobs, we should be legislating to bring in 300 jobs to this city.

I'm highly disappointed on the administrations and the City Council's move to take this bill and move from the Consumer Affairs Committee, I assure you we had the votes in my committee to oppose this ban, and that's the reason it was pushed to a committee where they could have the votes to bring it onto the floor.

But I'm not convinced if this bill comes to the floor we have the votes to make sure this bill is opposed. I look forward to working with the Teamsters and my colleagues look forward to assure this ban does not happen"
