UPDATE 7/26/18: Over 300 children separated from their families at the border were sent 2,000 miles to Cayuga Center. The night before the deadline, the feds told Cayuga 80 children would be reunited. They called back and said that was a mistake it was only 14. At 9pm 14 vans lined up and drove the children to LaGuardia for a 2am flight back to the detention centers at the border!
When they got to the airport there were only seats for 7 and were told by the feds to go to Westchester, for a 5am flight, when they got there, there were only 2 seats. After driving around all night 5 terrified and traumatized (again) children returned to Cayuga.
I arrived at Cayuga Center 10pm and filmed till 1am. Where did they take the children in the middle of the night?
Day before government reunification deadline of migrant children and families. Cayuga Center who has $44 million contract with government is housing 300 to 600 children. About 9pm a block long line of vans were parked. The vans returned empty, with case management workers carrying manila envelopes for each child.
